I hate leaving reviews that arent great for authors who I love.Unfortunately, this book just wasnt as good as I've come to expect from Kyla Stone.The story spent a lot of time telling the reader and not so much showing us.Up to now I have felt connected to the characters in this series, but this book just didn't have that.The emotion was missing. This book has some moments that, if written in Kyla Stones usual style, would have had me crying. I was instead completely disengaged. Everything felt flat.Hopefully the next book in the series is back to the great storytelling that I usually find in this authors books. Spoilers ahead: I read books 1 to 4 in 2 days, that’s how engaging it was. Then came this book and oh how it dragged and dragged, lol... at multiple points I literally began to skip handful of pages to just get pass the fluff. My favorite characters are the ones that I guess suffered immensely in terms of lack of character development or no progression at all. In fact, one character... Noah completely regressed. You can’t tell me a character you build as a honest to good loving guy who had morals, loved his son to the point of death and would do absolutely everything in his power to save him would now chose a complete sociopath over his own family? His grief of “losing his wife” again was too much for him that he lost it again? Lol... Hannah was already lost to him, why would this new reason break him because the author made it that way. This “way” was the easiest outcome, I literally wasted my time with this series. I’m being blunt cause I’m Nigerian and two I really liked this series initially and now I have a bad taste in my mouth. I definitely will not continue... all the other 1 to 3 ratings are very accurate, this is a complete waste of time. The read actually became very predictable, Noah literally became a generic bad guy he had no action but inaction no role but to dance to the nonsense of the writer. Also Liam... is the same person from the first book, I think RC said it best “the super solider” the generic “good guy” Liam has no flaws but to take another man’s wife with great enthusiasm. And Hannah... couldn’t stand her character, damsel in distress literally always until she became the home wrecker. Ugh.... her husband waited for, loved her and hoped for her back and your telling me his devotion is paid with such disrespect it’s laughable. Yes! I’m ranting cause I wasted time, someone recommend me a better series than this.
